Timeline Released For Thunderstorms In CT: Here's What To Know

Thunderstorms and 50 mph wind gusts are all in the forecast for Connecticut. Here's when, what to know.

Before daybreak Monday, rain and thunderstorms are forecast to move into Connecticut, and the rain and possible storms are expected through early Tuesday morning, according to forecasters.

Wind gusts could reach 40 to 50 mph in places Monday night.

"Tomorrow is wet and windy... periods of rain will be ongoing throughout the day with some embedded thunder at times during the afternoon/evening," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "We’re expecting 1-2″ of rainfall, with some higher amounts possible. Also, the wind will strengthen, with gusts over 40 mph likely. It is a *First Alert Weather Day* for travel impacts and the possibility of some minor flooding. High temperatures will be between 55 and 60 tomorrow afternoon." (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).

A flood watch has been issued for all of Connecticut from late Sunday through Tuesday morning.

A wind advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday for southern Connecticut. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. Isolated gusts up to 55 mph.

In Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties, a wind advisory is in effect from Monday afternoon to late Monday night. South winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

In Litchfield County, a wind advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Monday to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

Tuesday and Wednesday look cold, with temperatures barely reaching 40 degrees, but by Thursday temperatures will reach around 45 degrees, and by Friday it's sunshine and 50 degrees.
