Walmart, CVS, Walgreens Offering Coronavirus Vaccine In CT
Walmart, CVS and Walgreens have added coronavirus vaccine locations. CVS and Walgreens plan to add more in the future.
CONNECTICUT — More coronavirus vaccine providers are coming online in Connecticut as the state continues to ramp up its vaccination efforts. Walgreens, CVS and Walmart are some of the most recent providers to begin offering the vaccine or who will offer it in the near future.
People between the ages of 65 and 74 years old will be able to sign-up for appointments starting Thursday. Residents 75 and over, frontline health care workers and members of certain congregate settings are already eligible for the vaccine.
Connecticut partnered with retail pharmacies CVS, Walgreens and Walmart to establish vaccine sites in rural areas of the state as well as communities with a high social vulnerability index as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

All locations require appointments and there are no walk-in coronavirus vaccine immunizations offered.
“In a perfect world, we would receive enough doses of the vaccine to make it available to everyone in Connecticut right now, however each state is being given a very limited supply, which is why we need to phase it in and give priority to the most vulnerable populations,” Gov. Ned Lamont Lamont said in a statement. “I know that people are anxious to receive it, and I will continue advocating for our state to receive increased allocations in the coming weeks and months.”

Stamford Health, Yale New Haven Health and Hartford HealthCare are also offering vaccinations for eligible people through their own appointment systems.
There are more than 120 vaccine locations across the state between healthcare systems, local health departments and other providers. Connecticut offers a website where people can find the closest locations to their zip code.
Separately the federal government is partnering with pharmacy chains to distribute vaccines. Locations through the program will open Friday and around 60 will be added in total.
