Where Are The Worst Potholes In Town? Take The Patch Survey

Pothole season is unfortunately here in Connecticut. Have you noticed a particularly bad pothole in your town?

CONNECTICUT — It’s pothole season in Connecticut, and that means many drivers will face potential damage and costly repairs in the coming months.

A new survey from AAA found that 1 in 10 drivers sustained significant vehicle damage last year after hitting a pothole. The average repair cost was $600.

AAA recommends that drivers make sure their vehicle tires are inflated to the proper pressure at least once a month. Drivers should remain alert on the road and avoid driving through standing water, which can conceal potholes.

Drivers should slow down if they can’t avoid hitting a pothole and avoid abrupt braking. Hitting a pothole at higher speeds increases the chance of damage, AAA said.

Potholes thrive during freeze/thaw cycles, when water collects in road crevices and expands as it freezes. The weight of passing vehicles, especially heavy trucks, adds to pothole damage.
