Windsor, Daniel Hand Claim Team Championships At Class MM Track Meet

NEW BRITAIN, CT — One school returned to its familiar perch atop the Class MM track and field entries Thursday, while another ventured into a land it had barely known before.

Windsor breezed to a landslide victory in the boys competition, winning for the second straight year and eighth time since 2011. On the girls' side, however, just five points separated third-place Bethel from champion Daniel Hand, with Hillhouse settling for the second spot. The Tigers' championship was the program's first since 2010.

Six meet records were broken, by Jalena Martin of Ellington (100), Leonaya Knox of Hillhouse (100 hurdles), Talia Graham of Bethel (pole vault), Jack Mulcunry of Bristol Eastern (800), and boys relay teams from Windsor (4 x 400) and E.O. Smith (4 x 800).

Winners of two individual events were Graham (200, pole vault), Lucy Moran of Branford (800, 1600), Rosa Linda Volpintesta of Bethel (300 hurdles, high jump) and Grant Harris of Windsor (300 hurdles, long jump).
