4 Vehicles Collide On Route 44 in Avon

AVON, CT — A crash closed part oof Route 44 in Avon for about 90 minutes Tuesday afternoon, police said.

At 3:33 pm., Avon police responded to a report of a multi- vehicle accident in the area of 290 West Main St.

Arriving officers found four vehicles involved with injuries. The Avon Volunteer Fire Department also responded for fluid clean-up.

Four AMR ambulances were dispatched for various non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle traveling west on Route 44 crossed over the double yellow line, leading to the crash.

Police said anyone with information about the accident, can call the Avon Police Department at 860-409-4200, and ask for Officer Timothy Casey, the primary officer assigned to the investigation.
