AVON, CT — The Avon Falcons Athletic Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2026, recognizing nine honorees, including six former Avon High School athletes, two coaches, and one team.
A recognition dinner is scheduled for Friday, May 1, at the Golf Club of Avon, 160 Country Club Road. The event is open to the public.
The inductees were selected from a pool of more than 70 nominees, evaluated for athletic excellence, achievements during and after high school, and overall impact on Avon athletics, according to the Hall of Fame committee.
This year’s class includes Adam Blankenbicker (Class of 2000, soccer and track and field), Kyle Bourque (1998, soccer and track and field), Buddy Harris (1972, cross-country, indoor track, track and field), JD Kosakowski (1988, soccer and tennis), Ed Roy (1971, football and track and field), and Caroline Schaeffer (2014, field hockey, basketball, lacrosse).
Also selected are Jack Trumbull, a multi-sport coach, and Frank Waters, along with the 1984 Avon High School girls' cross-country team.
The committee said the candidates represented “a highly competitive pool of exceptional athletic talent spanning 55 years.”
The selection committee includes former athletes, coaches, and community members: Lisa Abate, Al Dadario, Susan Rietano Davey, Suzanne Lancaster, John McLaughlin, Jim Murray, Don Papio, Jon Yolles, and Dave Zlatin.
