Avon Sustainability Commission Seeks Summer Interns

AVON, CT — The Avon Sustainability Commission is accepting applications for its 2026 Summer Internship Program at Fisher Meadows.

The six-week program will run from June 22 through July 31 and is designed to give students hands-on experience exploring local ecosystems, learning from environmental experts, and conducting an independent plant study.

Fisher Meadows in Avon, CT, is a 250-acre, year-round recreational area and natural park on Old Farms Road.

It serves as both a nature preserve, featuring woodlands and the Farmington River, and a sports complex, offering athletic fields, picnic pavilions, and Spring Pond for non-motorized boating and fishing.

It's a key spot for low-impact outdoor activity.

The internship is open to Avon residents who are rising high school juniors through college seniors.
