AVON, CT — The Avon Free Public Library will host a free screening of the documentary 'The Extraordinary Caterpillar' on Monday, June 22, as part of the community’s Pollinator Week activities.

The screening is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the library, located at 281 Country Club Road. The event will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

According to event organizers, the documentary takes viewers from meadows and gardens to urban green spaces while examining the contributions of caterpillars to the natural world.

The film also features The Caterpillar Lab, entomologist David Wagner and Doug Tallamy, co-founder of Homegrown National Park.

The event is part of Avon’s “Growing A Greener Community” initiative and is sponsored by the Garden Club of Avon, Avon Land Trust, Avon Clean Energy Commission and Avon Free Public Library.

Organizers said the film is intended to inspire residents and families to learn more about local ecosystems and explore ways to support pollinators and native species in their own yards and neighborhoods.

The screening is free to attend, but registration is requested through the Avon Free Public Library website.
