Fourth Of July 2026: Avon Announces Town Impacts

The Fourth of July is this Saturday, with the observed holiday taking place this Friday, July 3.

AVON, CT — With America celebrating a very, very special 250th birthday this Saturday, July 4, Avon leaders have announced municipal impacts regarding services in town.

The Town of Avon has announced holiday closures for municipal offices and several town facilities in observance of Independence Day.

Town offices, the Department of Public Works, the Avon Senior Center, the landfill, and the Avon Free Public Library will be closed on Friday, July 3, the official observance of the holiday.

The landfill and library will also be closed on Saturday, July 4, town officials said.

Residents are encouraged to plan if they need to visit any of the affected facilities before the holiday.

Normal operations are expected to resume following the holiday weekend.
