AVON/CANTON, CT — The Avon/Canton Chamber of Commerce has launched its 2026 edition of "Where in the Valley?," a month-long promotion encouraging residents and visitors to explore local businesses throughout Avon and Canton.
The community-wide event runs from July 1 through July 31 as part of the chamber's "America's 250th Birthday Edition" celebration.
Participants are invited to visit 15 participating Avon/Canton Chamber member businesses throughout the month and scan each location's unique QR code.
A list of participating businesses is available on the Avon/Canton Chamber of Commerce's website and Facebook page.
The more participating businesses a person visits, the more entries they will earn for a chance to win one of three collections of gift cards from local Chamber member businesses.
The grand prize includes $250 in gift cards.
In addition to the gift card packages, each of the three winners will receive a limited-edition, patriotic-themed hand-blown glass orb created exclusively for the event by Riverton glass artist Peter Greenwood.
According to the chamber, the commemorative pieces are one-of-a-kind and will not be available for purchase elsewhere.
The chamber said the promotion is intended to celebrate local businesses while encouraging community members to shop locally during the nation's America 250 commemoration.
"As we observe America 250, it's the perfect time to also celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and independence that make our local businesses the heart of our communities," the chamber said in announcing the event.
The chamber is encouraging residents to participate throughout the month by visiting local businesses with family and friends and discovering destinations across the Farmington Valley.
Additional information, including the list of participating businesses and contest details, is available on the Avon/Canton Chamber of Commerce's website and Facebook page.
