Avon Sidewalk Replacement Project Begins This Week

Avon will begin replacing sidewalks, with work expected to continue through Aug. 26, weather permitting.

AVON, CT — A sidewalk replacement project along a portion of Scoville Road is expected to begin this week, with construction scheduled to continue through late August, town officials announced.

The Town of Avon has awarded a contract to Detour Construction LLC of Ludlow, Mass., to replace sidewalks on the north side of Scoville Road between Burnham Road and the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.

Construction is anticipated to begin on or about Tuesday, July 21, and is expected to be completed by Aug. 26, weather permitting.

According to the town, all work will take place within the municipal right-of-way.

Officials said they and the contractor will work to minimize disruptions to nearby residents, including noise, traffic impacts and temporary restrictions to driveway access.
