AVON, CT — Residents will have an opportunity to meet with Avon Volunteer Fire Department leadership and learn more about the department during a community conversation later this week.
Avon FD Chief Bruce Appell and other department leaders will host the informal drop-in event on Thursday, July 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at BeanZ & Co., 11 East Main St. in Old Avon Village.
According to the department, the event is designed to give residents an opportunity to ask questions, share ideas, and learn more about how the fire department operates.
Topics may include the town's water supply, fire safety, fire apparatus and equipment, and the department's facilities, as well as the day-to-day operations involved in serving the community.
"There are no presentations and no agenda," the department said in announcing the event. "Just conversation."
The Avon Volunteer Fire Department said the gathering is intended to help residents better understand the department's work while providing an opportunity to discuss issues that matter to the community.
