Are You Still Covered? Massive Medicare Changes Topic Of Avon Event

AVON, CT — An upcoming program at the Avon Free Public Library will help residents navigate changes to Medicare coverage expected in 2027.

"Medicare 2027: Major Changes, Eliminated Plans, and What You MUST Know" will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the library, located at 281 Country Club Road.

The program will be presented by father-and-daughter team Lou and Jessica Pelletier, who will discuss changes to the Medicare landscape for 2027 and what they could mean for beneficiaries.

Topics will include Medicare plans being eliminated or discontinued for 2027 and how those changes could affect current enrollees, including potential changes in coverage, premiums, and enrollment decisions.

The presenters will also discuss Medicare prescription drug coverage, including cost-sharing and benefit changes, and provide an overview of Medicare Part A, which covers hospital services; Part B, which generally covers physician and outpatient services; and Part D prescription drug coverage.

Other topics will include the differences between Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage plans, the Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount, commonly known as IRMAA, and Medicare Savings Programs.

The program will also address medical powers of attorney.

The workshop is geared toward older adults, their family members, and others seeking information about Medicare coverage and enrollment decisions for 2027.
