AVON, CT — Avon residents with sewer bills have an October payment deadline approaching, according to the town's Office of the Collector of Revenue.
The second installment of 2026 residential sewer bills is due Thursday, Oct. 1, with residents having until Friday, Oct. 30, to make payments without a penalty.
Payments must be received by the town or postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service by Oct. 30 to be considered on time.
Payments received after that date will be considered late. Under Connecticut law, the town said interest must be charged on past-due balances at a rate of 1.5% per month, or 18% annually, calculated from the due date. The minimum interest charge is $2 for each overdue installment.
Residents who have previous unpaid amounts or back charges must pay those bills first, according to the Collector of Revenue.
Online payments are available through the town's secure payment system. When searching for a sewer bill online, residents should use the parcel number highlighted on their bill.
After locating the account, taxpayers should look for "RES SEWER/2026" under the Type/Year field and select either "Add to Cart" or the magnifying glass to view the bill before adding it to the payment cart.
