Tips for Building a Backyard Ice Rink

There's a forum on Yahoo for rink builders, http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/backyardrink/

and the local lumber stores ( Sanford & Miner) have clear plastic sheets. For the aficionado, 7mm white plastic is better, available locally from Allstar Supply in New Hartford. For the coolest rink on the block, start with white plastic, then add LED rope lights, or fiber optics, then put clear plastic liner over the lights for a surreal lights-under-ice effect. See Lights Under Ice photo gallery at the yahoo group site above. LED rope lights are affordable at Carl's in Torrington. Use a licensed electrician / pool electrican for the install. Chill!
