The Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association has launched a capital campaign to raise $350,000 to purchase the building located at 248 Salmon Brook Street in Granby and to perform some much needed renovations. The building is currently rented from the Town of Granby and houses its Community Programs Department which benefits all residents of the Farmington Valley through its wide variety of illness prevention and health education services. It is also the home of the Granby Food Bank and Granby’s School Nursing Program, both of which are provided by the Farmington Valley VNA.
After the Town of Granby announced its desire to sell the property, the Farmington Valley VNA Board of Directors unanimously voted in October 2010 to purchase the building. The decision to purchase the building was deemed to be the most cost efficient and best option for retaining visibility and a close connection to the local community.
The Agency has operated from this location for more than thirty years dating back to when the organization only served Granby and Hartland as the Granby Public Health Nursing Association. The property is centrally located, is easily accessible to community residents and also offers privacy to individuals in need of Food Bank resources. The office serves as a local home base for the many VNA nurses who provide school nursing services to the Granby Public School System and the extensive clinics and illness prevention programs offered throughout the Farmington Valley.

The purchase of 248 Salmon Brook in Granby will not only enable the Agency to continue its rich history and tradition of caring, but will also support its vision of maintaining a vibrant and responsive organization whose services can grow to meet the needs of community residents.
The Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association is the only remaining non-profit, independent visiting nurse association in the area. Its mission and priority to provide home healthcare, Hospice services and illness prevention programs to the residents of the Farmington Valley, regardless of financial or insurance limitation, has remained consistent and relatively unchanged for over a century. The future is bright as we look forward to continuing our leadership in health care and serving our neighbors for another 100 years.
