Farmington Woods Golf Club held its annual Greens Keeper’s Revenge Tournament on a beautiful fall day, Sunday, October 21, 2012. Over 100 players participated in the annual tournament, open to all Farmington Woods residents, golf club members and guests. The tournament collects food, clothing and money for GIFTS OF LOVE, which supports people in need in the GreaterHartford area. $490 in cash and $180 in grocery gift cards plus over 50 shopping bags of food filled with canned goods were donated to the Gifts of Love Food Pantry.
At this time of year, the views from the course are spectacular.
For the tournament, Golf Course Superintendent Greg Bradley gets to make the course as tough to play as possible, making pin placements that only a masochist could like. Head Professional George DeVita,
PGA, and assistant pro Lucas Hitchcock, PGA, played with each group on the 8thhole, where players made additional donations of $560 to the Farmington Woods Gift to the Woods fund, which provides extra amenities to the entire Farmington Woods community. That amount was matched by an anonymous member, making the total donation $1,120. The anonymous donor would like the
gift to be named in honor of Linda Kirbus, a longtime member who recently passed away.

“On behalf of Farmington Woods, thank you to
all those members, residents and guests who participated and who once again
reached out to the community at large,” DeVita said.
