The daughter of Jimmy Greene and Nelba Márquez-Greene, Ana Grace was killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting on Dec. 14, 2012. The Ana Grace Project was established in memory of Ana Grace Marquez-Greene—the elementary school’s namesake.

According to CREC, Ana Grace is an alumni of the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts and former CREC teachers.

“The next best thing to having Ana here with us is knowing that we are promoting love, community, and connection in her name,” Nelba Marquez-Greene said in a statement. “We are so thrilled to partner with CREC and pray to make this an annual event alongside the Dance for Ana with Love crew.”
