Around the Campuses - Avon College Students

AVON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its spring 2018 semester Dean's List for full-time students. Honorees from Avon and their majors are: Tara Shayler, Elementary Education and History; Alexis Sylvester, Early Childhood Education and Psychology; Monica Aldag, General Studies; Mackenzie Harris, Pre-Social Work; Stephan LaReau, Computer Science; and Gabriella Zone, Psychology. In order to be named to the Dean's List, Eastern students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the semester.

University of New Hampshire, Durham NH

• Three students from Avon graduated from the University of New Hampshire in May 2018: Madison Zapatka, BA in Psychology, Cum Laude; Jessie Zionts, BA in English/Journalism; and Erin Getz, BA in Political Science, Magna Cum Laude. Students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.65-3.84; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.50-3.64.

Wesleyan University, Middletown CT

• Giselle Reyes of Avon earned a BA degree in Chemistry from Wesleyan University at the Commencement ceremony on May 26.
