Arts and Crafts Show Applicants Sought
The Avon Arts Association is now accepting applications from artists and artisans for its 49th annual juried Arts and Crafts Show.
The Avon Art Association will hold its 48th annual Arts and Crafts Show at The Old Avon Village. The show will be held on Saturday, September 26th from 10:00 -5:00 and Sunday, September 27th from 10:00 -4:30. Admission is free. Old Avon Village is located at 41 East Main St. (Route #44), Avon, CT. Look for the rocking chair.
More than 60 juried artists from all over New England participate offering fine art and quality crafts including paintings, prints, collage, sculpture, pottery, mixed-media, photography, jewelry soaps and lotions, textiles and more. Its a great opportunity to get a jump on your holiday shopping with some really unique gifts.
In addition to the artisans booths there will be artist demonstrations from the Avon Art Association. The Village merchants will be open and welcome the artists and crafters and are eager to be a part of the weekend’s activities. There will be sidewalk sales and events and the Cake Gypsy will provide an interactive cupcake craft to visitors. Music will be provided by The KC Sisters, Michael Cassavant and Matt Rogers.

All proceeds from the show go to our scholarship fund. Recipients are chosen from among Farmington Valley high school seniors who have been accepted for collegiate art studies. The final decision on the recipients is made after a portfolio review by the scholarship committee. The 2015 scholarship winners are: Thomas D'Amore from Canton High won the Avon Arts Award for Excellence, Josephine Black from Simsbury High won the Robert Ronaldes Memorial Award . Shanan Berry from Simsbury High won the Helen Kilgus Memorial Scholarship and
Emily Nelson from Avon High won the Artistic Achievement Award.
There will be a booth displaying the art of children and emerging young artists from the Farmington Valley and surrounding areas. If you know an emerging young artist (elementary to high school) whose work you would like to see displayed, please contact Inez Faillace at faillace1@comcast.net or call 860 673-5579 for more information. One of these may become a future scholarship recipient. All art must be delivered by Thursday, September 24th.
