AT&T Cell Service Soon Available Near Lovely Street
The Connecticut Siting Council will be notified when the cell tower on St. Matthew is fully functioning.
The 110-foot brown AT&T cell phone tower on St. Matthew Lutheran Church property will soon service a "one-mile gap in coverage along Lovely Street and the surrounding area," according to Robert Mercier, a Connecticut Siting Council employee.
"AT&T is working hard to bring enhanced wireless service to our customers in the Avon area, and we hope to have this cell site online in the coming weeks," Meaghan Wims, an AT&T spokeswoman, wrote in an e-mail to Patch Monday.
"AT&T will provide notice to the council when this occurs," Mercier wrote.

St. Matthew's is leasing land to AT&T toward the back of its property line for the cell phone tower, Avon Town Planner Steven Kushner has previously said. AT&T went with a "flagpole" design for the tower, which contains antennas and hundreds of feet of cabling, he said. The pole is 36 inches in diameter.
The siting council approved the project on Oct. 7, 2010, and the final site plan on March 3, 2011, according to Mercier.
