Avon American Legion Seeks Members

The prominent veterans organization is looking to 're-energize' the Avon post.

AVON, CT – American Legion Post 201, Avon, is looking for new members.

"If you are, or know someone who is, a military veteran who served at least one day of active duty since Dec. 4, 1941, and was honorably discharged, or still serving honorably, let us them know," wrote the local chapter in an announcement.

The Avon Post is actively seeking to re-energize its Post with new members to continue their service to any veteran and their family with help through their national organization.

The American Legion, formed in 1919, is the largest wartime veterans service organization with 2 million members in more than 12,000 posts in America.

Benefits of joining include assistance with VA benefits, having a voice in veteran issues in Washington, receiving a monthly magazine, camaraderie through community support and a wide range of discounts on many everyday services just for being a member.

Locally, the Avon Post has monthly meetings and collaborates with other veteran
organizations in the Farmington Valley to make sure every veteran and their family is assisted
in every way possible.
