Avon To Begin Long Budget Process For 2026-27

AVON, CT — In case anyone was curious, the Town of Avon is about to begin its budget process for the next fiscal year.

And, as always, residents are invited to participate.

On Wednesday, the town outlined several key dates, with the first one starting this weekend.

The process begins with an Avon Town Council Budget Work Session on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 8 a.m.

This session, where the town manager's proposed budget will be reviewed, will take place at the Avon Town Hall in the selectmen's chamber.

Residents unable to attend in person, but they can watch the session remotely, and virtual access instructions are available on the Avon Town Council's web page under "Agendas, Minutes & Recordings" or via this link.

A series of public meetings will follow.

• The annual budget public Hearing for the proposed 2026-27 budget is scheduled for Monday, April 6, at 7 p.m.

This hearing will be held at the Avon Senior Center, located at 635 West Avon Road.

• The Avon Board of Finance will then hold its budget workshop on Wednesday, April 8, at 7 p.m., also at the Avon Senior Center.

This workshop provides another opportunity for public engagement and discussion regarding the budget.

• The annual budget meeting is set for Monday, May 4, at 7 p.m., again at the Avon Senior Center. This meeting precedes the final decision-making event.

• Finally, the budget referendum is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voting will take place at the Avon Senior Center, 635 West Avon Road. The proposed FY 2026-27 budget will take effect on July 1.

Updates regarding these dates and further detailed information on the proposed budget will be shared on the town's website and in the April Newsletter.
