On Monday May 5th, the Avon High School Booster Club and the family of Richard Migli (AHS Class of 1970) hosted the 21st annual Richard Migli Golf Tournament under sunny skies at the Golf Club of Avon. The tournament, which honors the talented Falcon athlete who died in 1993, raised over $18,000.00 that will fund essentials for Avon High School’s athletic teams, and scholarships for exceptional student-athletes.
Included among the 75 tournament participants were Dick’s sisters Pat Malone and Amy Matsikas, his brother-in-law Paul Matsikas, his former AHS baseball coach, Dick Kelliher, and teammates Paul Salvatore, Gordon Britt, George Clarke and Myles Glynn, along with many AHS alumni, parents, coaches and friends. Tournament winners were the foursome of Rob St. Jean, Todd Donovan, Ron Theriault and Mark Olson (gross) and the foursome of Mike Carlson, Mike Goulet, Andy Letourneau and AHS Girls Lacrosse Coach, Sean Cole (net). But, truly, with the money raised and the fun had, everyone left the Migli a winner.
The Avon Booster Club and the Migli family would like to thank title sponsor Northwest Community Bank; gold sponsors Avon Plumbing and Heating, Babbidge Facilities Construction Co., Inc., Fradette Carlson Insurance, Hoffman Auto Group, Attorney Ken Levine, Ryan Paige Associates, Yamin & Grant, LLC, and many generous community donors.
