Avon Boys, Girls Sweep Division Titles at CCC Cross Country Championships

Falcons rule the Central-White division in Wednesday's meet at Wickham Park.

On an unseasonably warm late October afternoon, runners from Avon High School enjoyed a highly successful day navigating the hilly 3.1 mile course at Wickham Park in Manchester.

In their first season in the newly-aligned Central Connecticut Conference, the Falcon boys and girls teams each prevailed as Central-White division champions at the CCC Cross Country Championships.

Rachel Martin was the top Avon finisher, placing 14th overall. Ryley Higgins (15th) and Sara Leavens (23rd) also placed in the top 25 of the 174-girl field.

On the boys’ side, Andrew Suter was the only Falcon in the top 25, finishing 15th in the pack of 207 runners.
