Avon To Celebrate 10 Groups Doing The Community Good
The Avon Greater Together Community Fund is hosting a free reception Sept. 24 honoring its latest round of community grant recipients.

AVON, CT – The public is invited to a community reception next week to celebrate the achievements of 10 organizations that do good in the local community.
Avon’s Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Committee is inviting members of the public to a free celebration recognizing its 10 recent grant recipients and their work serving Avon.

This event, which is open to all, will also be a great way for anyone to learn about upcoming grant opportunities.
The free reception, hosted by the Avon Greater Together Community Fund, will be held in the Avon Free Public Library’s Community Room, 281 Country Club Road, Avon.

It will take place on Tuesday, Sep. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.
"The program will celebrate those doing great things for the residents of our town, build connections and find support for efforts that foster a greater sense of community and increased diversity and inclusion in Avon," wrote the town in an announcement.
Attendees will hear from members of the AGTCF Advisory Committee, meet recent grant recipients and enjoy conversation and networking.
Light refreshments will be served.
To date, the Avon Greater Together Community Fund has distributed over $100,000 to 22 nonprofits benefiting the town of Avon.
“We are thrilled to host this third event honoring our latest round of grant recipients, all of whom are doing great work to meet a host of needs in our community,” said Avon Community Fund Advisory Committee Chairperson Haleigh Guerrera.
“We hope our September event will help build bridges in our community, open doors of cooperation and inspire new ideas of working together to make Avon an even more wonderful place to live.”
In 2019, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving established $100,000 endowed Community Funds for each of the 29 towns in its region, which includes Avon.
