Avon Citizens Police Academy Coming Up
The course allows for residents to learn about how the police department works.

AVON, CT - The Avon Police Department is offering a Citizens’ Police Academy, beginning on January 23rd, 2019, for residents who want to learn more about local law enforcement.
The 9-week program will take place at the Avon Police Department, 60 West Main Street, from January 23, 2019 to March 27, 2019. The Academy will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Those attending will learn about many aspects of the Avon Police Department, including Crime Scene Investigation, DWI Enforcement, Community Policing Programs and the Detective Unit. In addition, Academy participants will learn about some of the regional programs the Avon Police Department participates in, such as Accident Reconstruction and the Emergency Services Team.
Class size is limited. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be out of high school, reside in Avon and/or own a business incorporated in Avon. All participants must complete an application and pass a criminal background check. Applications can be obtained at the Avon Police Department (front lobby) or on-line at http://www.avonct.gov/Citizens’ Police Academy.
