Avon Coffee Shop/Creamery Wins Inaugural Holiday Award

AVON, CT — A prominent coffee/ice cream shop in Avon has made history, winning the town's inaugural holiday decorating contests for businesses.

The Avon Town Council Thursday announced the winner of the first-ever Avon Shines Holiday Decorating Project is Dom's Coffee and Dom's Creamery located at 20 and 16 W. Main St.

The runners-up were BouNom Bakery, Maher's Paint & Wallpaper, LLC, and J Foster's Ice Cream.

"Congratulations to our winner and our runners-up. Dom's will receive the Avon Shines trophy in the next few days," wrote the town Thursday, Dec. 28.

Voting was done online by area community members who would drive around town and judge the holiday decorations for themselves.

That part of the contest concluded Dec. 23, with Thursday's announcement ending the inaugural event.
