It was a close one Tuesday night as defeated conference hoops rival Suffield 57-48.

Yet even with a league win, Avon boys varsity basketball head coach Chris Vozzolo indicated that the team's defensive game left much to be desired.

"To be honest, we were a little unhappy with our performance," Vozzolo said. "We thought we could come out and play a much better defense and rebound the ball much better in the first half."

However, he was pleased with the performance of Avon junior William Distefano, who was the game's leading scorer with 12 points.

"I'm very pleased with Will Distefano's work tonight," Avon head coach Chris Vozzolo said. "He battled for us. He was a very strong rebounding the basketball. He did a lot of stuff that we've been working on in practice and it showed. He's one of our hardest working players."
