AVON, CT — If December is about yuletide revelry, then January is about taking it all down and one of the major tasks is disposing of those natural Christmas trees.

In the Town of Avon, the policy is simple. You take your bare trees and leave it by the road. The town will eventually pick it up.

Town officials this week said the tree collection has already started as of Jan. 2 and public works department employees will be hauling trees from the roadside through Jan. 31.

The policy appears to be quite user-friendly as well.

"There is no established schedule by street," wrote the town this week. "Multiple, random passes will be made around town throughout the month."
