Avon Election 2015 Results: School Board Victors Declared
Election Day provided some interesting results in the town of Avon.
Avon voters opted for sweeping change on the Board of Education Tuesday, electing five Democrats to give the party a 6-3 majority.
Democratic incumbents Houston Putnam Lowry and Wendy Howard retained their seats, while newcomers Jackie Blea, Debra Chute and Laura Young were all elected.
Republican incumbents Ames B. Shea, Brian P. Glenn and Jeff Bernetich all came up short in their bids for re-election.

There were no surprises in Town Council voting, with four Republicans and one Democrat on the ballot for five seats. Republicans James E. Speich, Mark W. Zacchio, Heather A. Maguire and William C. Stokesbury are joined by Democrat David Pena.
Official vote totals will be available later Tuesday night.
