Avon/Farmington To Have Massive 'America 250' Celebration

AVON/FARMINGTON, CT — Organizers from two neighboring towns are teaming up for one massive 'America 250' celebration later this year.

The towns made the announcement last month.

Residents of Avon and Farmington are being invited to a joint community celebration this summer to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary, with local officials emphasizing accessibility, regional participation, and a full evening of programming.

The towns announced plans for the “Avon & Farmington CT 250 Celebration,” scheduled for Friday, June 26, at 99 Thompson Road in Avon, with a rain date of June 27.

The free event will run from 4 p.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m., concluding with a fireworks display at 9 p.m.

Organizers said the event, themed “Past, Present, Party,” will include live music, food vendors, community organizations, and family-oriented activities designed to draw residents from both towns and surrounding communities.

Officials highlighted logistics as a key planning component, noting that parking at the event site will be restricted to accessible spaces.

Attendees will be directed to off-site parking locations, where free shuttle service will be provided.

The event is open to the public, and organizers are actively seeking participation from local businesses, nonprofits, and community groups.

Sponsorship commitments are requested by May 1, according to event materials, with organizers stating that partner support will help expand programming and outreach.
