Avon FD Leaders To Meet With Residents At Informal Event This Weekend
Avon residents can meet the chief and other AVFD leaders on Saturday to discuss fire safety, equipment, facilities, and more.

AVON, CT — Avon residents will have an opportunity Saturday to sit down with the Avon Volunteer Fire Department leadership and ask questions about how the department operates and serves the community.
AVFD Chief Bruce Appell and other department leaders will hold a drop-in "Community Conversations" event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Avon Whole Foods store, 50 Climax Road.
The informal event will allow residents to ask questions and discuss topics ranging from the town's water supply and fire safety to firefighting apparatus, equipment, and department facilities.

"How does your fire department work — and what does it take to keep it running?" the department said in announcing the event.
Department officials said there will be no formal presentation or agenda.

"Just conversation," the department said.
The gathering is part of an ongoing series of community conversations organized by the AVFD to give residents a better understanding of its operations and the challenges involved in providing fire protection and other emergency services in Avon.
Residents can stop by at any point during the two-hour event.
