
Longtime Avon High School football coach Glenn McLellan, the winningest gridiron leader in school history, passed away Sunday at age 77, the Collinsville Press reported.
McLellan, a past president of the Northern Connecticut chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame, took over the Falcons’ football program in 1966 and helmed the squad for 26 seasons. His teams won nine conference championships during his tenure.
