Avon Garden Club To Host Special Garden Tours This Month
The club invites residents to tour Sycamore Hills Gardens and learn about local food production.
AVON, CT — The Garden Club of Avon is inviting residents to visit the Sycamore Hills Recreation Area gardens during two public events in June showcasing the club’s community gardening efforts and food production programs.
Gardeners will be available to meet with visitors and discuss the gardens at 635 W. Avon Road on Monday, June 15, from 5 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, June 20, from 9 to 10 a.m.
The club said its raised-bed gardens have been producing vegetables for the Gifts of Love nonprofit since 2017 and have delivered 278 pounds of organic produce in 2025.

The gardens include examples of crops that can be grown in compact spaces, as well as additional planting areas dedicated to producing food for the Avon Food Pantry.
According to the club, the site also features pollinator gardens designed to attract beneficial insects.
The gardening area, located near the tennis courts at Sycamore Hills, was recently expanded with support from the Avon Department of Recreation & Parks and Buildings & Grounds.
The expansion includes additional fencing, a pollinator garden under the pergola and another near the senior center.
Garden Club members said they welcome visitors to stop by during gardening sessions to discuss successes, challenges and volunteer opportunities.
