Avon Girl Scouts To Host America 250 Fun Run This Weekend

AVON, CT — Avon Girl Scouts will combine exercise, family activities, and a celebration of the nation's 250th birthday with a community fun run Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Fisher Meadows Recreation Area.

The "Race Through Herstory" event is being hosted by Avon Girl Scouts as part of the community's America 250 celebration.

The event will feature a 5K fun run, a kid mile, and a little kid dash.

Organizers are also planning a bake sale and coloring table.

Advance registration was encouraged by Aug. 30, with those registering by that deadline eligible to receive a free T-shirt, but day-of registration will also be available.

The event is being promoted in conjunction with Avon's America 250 initiative, which focuses on celebration, reflection, and civic pride surrounding the 250th anniversary of the United States.
