Avon Girls to Open Class L Basketball Tournament on Road

AVON, CT — The road to Mohegan Sun starts Monday and Tuesday, as Avon High School and 129 other high school girls basketball teams begin their quests for state championships in the CIAC tournaments.

A 7-13 regular season record gave Avon the No. 29 seed and an opening round away game in the Class L tournament. The Falcons will travel to No. 4 Daniel Hand (17-3) Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Other first-round Class L matchups involving teams from Patch towns in Hartford and Tolland counties are:

• No. 25 Watertown (8-12) at No. 8 Windsor (15-5)
• No. 23 Lyman Hall (10-10) at No. 10 Wethersfield (14-6)
• No. 19 Suffield (11-9) at No. 14 Capital Prep (12-6)
• No. 30 Foran (6-14) at No. 3 Farmington (17-3)
• No. 18 Rockville (12-8) at No. 15 East Lyme (13-7)
• No. 26 Tolland (8-12) at No. 7 Pomperaug (15-5)
