Avon Girls Win, Boys Second at Haddad Invitational
The Falcons' cross country season got underway Saturday in Windham.

Avon High School kicked off the 2015 cross country season in style with great performances at the 37th annual Bob Haddad Invitational in Windham.
The Falcon girls captured the team race with 49 points, edging E.O. Smith by four. Rachel Martin led Avon with a fourth-place finish, followed by Christina Martin (5th), Ryley Higgins (7th) and Sara Leavens (11th).
On the boys’ side, the Falcons accumulated 77 points to finish second, trailing E.O. Smith’s 56. Leading the way were Andrew Suter (5th), Jonathan Hernandez (9th) and Jack Stokesbury (16th).

After competing for many years in the NCCC, the Falcons will open their premiere Central Connecticut Conference schedule by hosting Windsor at Fisher Meadow on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 3:45 p.m.
