Avon: Good Turnout At Bicycle/Pedestrian Master Planning Event

Avon officials are looking to transform the town into a bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly community, hosting a forum last week.

AVON, CT — Avon officials report significant interest in helping to transform the town into a more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly community.

The town reported a large crowd last week for a Sept. 19 public forum on the topic.

"We had an excellent turnout for the third public information meeting regarding the Town’s Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Planning effort with over 50 people in attendance," wrote the Town of Avon this week. "The comments and discussion were thoughtful and very much appreciated."

Looking ahead, the SLR team, in conjunction with town staff will refine the proposed recommendations based on the feedback from the public.

A final draft of the plan will be presented to the Avon Town Council at an upcoming meeting.

In the meantime, local leaders continue to encourage the public to review the work that has been completed so far by visiting the project’s StoryMap site.
