Avon High School Preparing for New Conference Debut
The Falcons have left the North Central Connecticut Conference, and are now part of a re-aligned Central Connecticut Conference.

With a new school year just around the corner, the dawning of a new era is about to begin for Avon High School athletics.
After many years of success in the North Central Connecticut Conference, the Falcons have left that group of mostly smaller schools, and switched to the Central Connecticut Conference.

Now at 33 schools, the CCC has been divided into three regions. Avon has been assigned to the Central Region, along with Bulkeley, Conard, Farmington, Glastonbury, Hall, Northwest Catholic, Simsbury, Southington, Weaver and Windsor.

This fall, Avon’s cross country, soccer and girls’ volleyball programs will compete in the White Division of the Central Region. Their division rivals are Bulkeley, Northwest Catholic, Weaver, Windsor and bordering Farmington.
Football and field hockey are set up differently than other sports in the conference; the Falcons will play football in Division 3 East, and field hockey will play in the CCC South.
Opening games are scheduled as follows:
- Boys’ soccer, Friday, Sept. 11 vs. Simsbury, 3:45 p.m.
- Girls’ soccer, Friday, Sept. 11 at Simsbury, 3:45 p.m.
- Field hockey, Friday, Sept. 11 at Glastonbury, 3:45 p.m.
- Girls’ volleyball, Friday, Sept. 11 vs. Simsbury, 5 p.m.
- Football, Friday, Sept. 11 at Rocky Hill, 7 p.m.
- Cross country, Tuesday, Sept. 15 vs. Windsor, 3:45 p.m.
