Avon High School Students Complete Internships
Local students involved in the program have been involved in a range of professional fields.

AVON, CT - Recently 47 Avon High School juniors and seniors showcased their culminating course activity with the presentation of their internship posters, according to a statement from the school. The students spent 70 hours or more during the past summer interning in their professional field of choice.
Fields included were architecture, engineering, law, medicine, physical therapy, entrepreneurship, veterinarian science, journalism, military service, politics, computer programming and finance.
New Avon High School Principal, Michael Renkawitz was delighted with the students’ work. "I was very impressed with the variety of internships that students were engaged in, the depth of the experience in a field of interest, and the opportunity to be in a real world work environment," he said in a statement. "It was interesting to note that most students spoke about the importance that good interpersonal skills has in the workplace. I look forward to the next round of internships and what those students will have to share with us."

The most common area of interest is health science, with 37 percent of students choosing this field. The program has extended beyond the state's borders, with internships in Rhode Island, Maine, Germany, China, India and Albania.
Max Frodermann, 12th grader, explained his internship at the BMW Group in Munich, Germany this past
summer as “an ability to step out of my comfort zone and be in a professional environment in a foreign country has been a very impactful experience on my personal growth."
