Avon High School Swimmers Perform Well at Class M Championships

The Falcons finished seventh among the 21 teams competing in the class championships Tuesday at Wesleyan University.

MIDDLETOWN, CT - Several excellent performances were turned in by Avon High School swimmers at the Class M championship meet Tuesday at Wesleyan University.

The Falcons placed seventh in team competition of the 21 schools entered.

The top Avon performer was junior Kyle Emery, who shaved nearly two and a half seconds off his preliminary time to place second in the 100 backstroke.

Riley Strassner placed third in two events: the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle. The Falcons also had three sixth-place finishes: Brendan Downey in 1-meter diving, the 200 medley relay team of Emery, Sam Johnson, Megan Foley and Andre Richard, and the 400 freestyle relay team of Richard, Maksymilian Jaremko, Emery and Strassner.
