Avon High School Wins Ultimate Championship

This is only the school's third year as a varsity team.

The Falcons defeated Forman 11-5 in only its second appearance in the state tournament and third year as a varsity team.

Against Forman, Avon started out with a 5-0 lead. Forman however, rallied to tie the match at 5-5. Avon then scored again to take a 6-5 halftime lead. In the second half, Avon added another five goals and shut down Forman.

In the tournament, the eight Division II teams were placed into one of four-team pools with the two winners earning the right to play for the state championship.

Ultimate (Frisbee) is played on a field that is 70 yards long, 40 yards wide, and has 25-yard end zones. The teams play with seven players and score points by getting the disc into the end zone.

In order to move the the disk down the field, you have to pass it - there is no running. If the disc hits the ground, the opponent gets it.
