Before an audience of family, friends, coaches and school leaders, four of Avon High School’s most talented female athletes signed National Letters of Intent on Tuesday, February 17th in the AHS Community Room.
“These young women have been leaders on and off the field at Avon High School,” remarked Avon Athletic Director, Greg Ferry, kicking off the program. “We are proud of their accomplishments here and congratulate them on being recruited to play at the collegiate level.”
Hannah Davey, offensive star on the lacrosse team, will attend Lafayette College; Amanda Holtzman, indomitable soccer defender, will attend Siena College; her team mate, midfield powerhouse Michaela Marcus, will attend University of Maine; and Emily Stross, field hockey defensive star, will attend Southern Connecticut State University.
Coaches Cat Hanks (lacrosse), Jim Murray (soccer) and Terry Ziemnicki (field hockey) introduced the girls with praise for their discipline and passion, and thanks for their contributions to Avon Athletics.
The Avon High School Booster Club will host a separate ceremony on June 4th to recognize all AHS athletes (recruited or not) who are moving on to play a varsity collegiate sport after graduation.
