Avon High's Top Two Graduates Off To Academic Royalty

Avon's school board recently honored the Class of 2023's valedictorian and salutatorian.

AVON, CT — When Avon High School bids farewell to the Class of 2023 next week, it will also say goodbye to two of its highest-achieving academic wunderkinds.

AHS' commencement is Thursday, June 15, and the Avon Board of Education at its last meeting honored the class' valedictorian and salutatorian.

Both garnered recognition as the school board's May 16 meeting.

Valededictorian

The AHS Class of 2023 valedictorian is Ariella Reynolds.

Reynolds is Ivy League bound en route to Brown University in Providence, R.I., heading off to academia following a litany of accomplishments at AHS.

Among them is a course load that inluded 24 college level/honors level classes, internships at Brown and Harvard universities and time on the tennis and crew teams.

Salutatorian

Sandra Lu, the Class of 2023's salutatorian is also headed to academic royalty, albeit on the west coast as she will attend the University of California-Berkely.

Lu's class work included 30 college/honors courses, an internship at UConn Health, time on the math and science clubs, as well as being on the swim and cross-country teams.
