Avon Hires Interim Superintendent

AVON, CT — The Avon Board of Education on Thursday announced the appointment of Jeanann C. Paddyfote as interim superintendent.

She will be starting with the new school year and will serve until a new superintendent is selected, according to the announcement.

The Avon Board of Education has also started its search for a new superintendent. The board also announced it has hired Joseph V. Erardi Jr., a former superintendent of the year, to manage the search for the Board of Education.

Superintendent of Schools Gary Mala resigned last month to become director of EASTCONN, a public, non-profit, regional educational service center.

Mala had been the local schools chief since March 2011.
