Avon Hires New Tax Collector

The town's longtime tax collector is retiring effective Aug. 1.

AVON, CT — When longtime Avon Tax Collector officially retires after Aug. 1, her replacement will already be set to take her place.

Late last month, the Avon Town Council unanimously voted 5-0 to hire Halaree Monnerat to become the new tax collector.

According to June 30 meeting minutes, Monnerat said she was "pleased and honored by the recommendation" by Avon Town Manager Brandon Robertson.

She will replace veteran tax collector Deb Fioretti, who is retiring after a quarter century in town.
Monnerat has been working in municipal tax collection since 2014, according to minutes.

According to the state of Connecticut, she is the current tax collector in the Town of Winchester.
