Avon To Honor Veterans On Nov. 11
While town offices are closed, the schools are open as Avon veterans will fan out and discuss the holiday's meaning with students.

AVON, CT — The Town of Avon's offices will be closed Friday for the Veterans Day holiday, but its schools will be open, with special Veterans Day assemblies planned at most facilities.
According to the Avon VFW, veterans will be a several schools Friday morning, providing vital personal lessons on the importance and sacrifice veterans have and are giving for their country.
Then, at 11 a.m. at the Avon Town Green, 56 W Main St, Avon, the local community will have its annual Veterans Day ceremony.

"Please join us to commemorate the service of Avon's military veterans in speech, song and prayer at 11 a.m. on the town green," writes the VFW in a post about the event.
In case of rain, the event will be held at the Avon Senior Center, 635 West Avon Road.

Meanwhile, Avon's town offices, public works facility, senior center, landfill and public library will be closed in observance of the holiday.
Town officials said the library will be open on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The landfill will be open regular hours on Saturday, Nov. 12.
