Avon Library Animal Program To Get Wild

The Avon Free Public Library Thursday, May 30, is hosting a special event focusing on Connecticut's wildlife population.

AVON, CT — Families are invited to a unique presentation that promises to get a bit wild, but that's OK.

It is supposed to be wild.

TheAvon Free Public Library Thursday, May 30, is hosting "Living with Connecticut's Wildlife" at 6:30 p.m. The library is located at 281 Country Club Road, Avon.

The free, in-person program — to be hosted by Paul Colburn, a 2015 graduate of the Connecticut Master Wildlife Conservationist Program and certified Master Wildlife Conservationist — will focus on how to live with and enjoy our wild neighbors.

Species covered include black bears, eastern coyotes, bobcats, fishers, raccoons, skunks, Virginia opossums, red and gray foxes, woodchucks, white-tailed deer, birds, bats, venomous and non-venomous reptiles, and amphibians.

The MWCP is a Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection adult education program that trains volunteers in wildlife management, natural history, and interpretation.

Colburn is a graduate of Wesleyan University and served in the U.S. Army.
