Avon Library Event To Explore Ramadan
One of the Muslim faith's holiest times of the year is the topic of a special event on Saturday being hosted by the local Muslim community.

AVON, CT — The town's local library is hosting a special event Saturday aimed at educating the public about an important holiday of the Muslim faith — Ramadan.
Hosted by the Farmington Valley American Muslim Center, "Fasting Together: Muslims and Ramadan" will take place Saturday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. in the library's community room.

The library is located at 281 Country Club Road.
"Join us for a comprehensive introductory course highlighting the significance, practices, and cultural aspects of Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam," reads an announcement.

The course aims to provide an understanding of Ramadan and its traditions for those unfamiliar.
"Students will gain an understanding of the diversity of Muslim experiences, increasing knowledge of their Muslim neighbors," wrote event organizers.
It is being presented by Imam Safwan Shaikh, religious director of the Farmington Valley American Muslim Center.
